To quote Mandy, "I don't miss cable."

Thought I'd update my cable cutting adventure.  So far, no problem.  Or at least very little problem.  I have experienced shoddy quality/connectivity during peak hours.  In other words, sometimes the internet connection is lame when you want it most.  That is a bandwidth issue and trivial.  I just wait until people go to bed in my neighborhood to watch tv.

The kids love it.  They fight a little bit between shows because the Ginger Midget is a Dora and Diego superfan, while the princess has become a Powerpuff Girls aficionado.  We solve it by having them take turns.  It works pretty well until it is the 6 year old's turn to make a selection and the 2 year old doesn't grasp the concept just yet.  It is still minor.

I bought an HDMI to Mini DisplayPort to throw my MacBook Pro to my home theater.  I use it very infrequently, but it has come in handy for consumption not available on my Roku.  Speaking of the Roku, I'm still waiting on the update.  If you are looking to get a Roku for yourself, I highly suggest getting the newest version.  You can plug headphones into the remote!  How genius is that?

I'm thinking about possibly getting an Apple TV just for the AirStream.  Like Apple says, "It just works."  I've been trying to get a product at school that allows iOS devices to mirror the display to my MacBook.  I think the educational possibilities are endless in a iOS classroom with this capability.  It is stuck in bureaucracy right now.  Grr.

As far as Apple TV at the house, I could AirPlay YouTube which is not available on the Roku (not a huge loss, but I've missed it a few times).  And here is my dilemma for thinking about Apple TV: if I purchase media, a movie or a tv series, where should I buy it where it will be available to me any and everywhere?  Thus far, I've bought stuff on Amazon Prime.  I doubt Amazon is going away anytime soon, but can I get to that media anywhere with my iOS devices?  I can buy media from Apple and I can get to it from my iOS devices, but they will not play on my Roku.  And my Android friends say switch over, but Apple has me ensnared.  To think about buying all of those new apps for my new devices?  I shudder to think about it.

Anyway, for the price of a month's worth of cable, I could get an Apple TV box to get AirPlay capabilities and I could buy media on iTunes (of which I already have quite a bit).  But isn't it so much different to spend $100+ EVERY month on cable and it is just viewed as a sunk cost.  However, if you go to a store or online and buy a device, it seems more painful.  Dave Ramsey would be proud of that revelation.

Oh, by the way, the MLB app is great, but blackouts SUCK!  For the amount that I pay for the app, blackouts should not apply.  That is all for now.  Peaceout.

Thanks for the update. I still can't do it because I couldn't handle missing the Ranger games. Hope things are going well.
